THE FIELD GUIDE / 03
Daily Red stats,
IVs and EVs.
Every number here comes from the Daily Red game code that this site runs. Your six change every day; the rules that build them don't. RED's team is the same every day, right down to its stats.
How your team is built
- Six different Pokémon from Generations I–III, all at level 100.
- A strong team overall. The six base stat totals add up to at least 2,700. RED's six add up to 2,954.
- Legendaries are rare. About 1 team in 8 has exactly one legendary or mythical Pokémon. The rest have none.
- Nature, ability and gender are random. Shiny Pokémon appear at the normal 1 in 8,192 rate.
- Up to four random moves from everything the Pokémon learns by level-up or TM/HM. If it can learn an attack, at least one of its moves is an attack.
- One held item, from a pool of battle items plus type-boosting items for the types of its own attacks.
IVs: 25 to 31 in every stat
Each of your Pokémon's six IVs is random from 25 to 31. RED's are all 31. The game's Summary screen doesn't show IVs, but they decide your Hidden Power type, below.
EVs: two stats maxed
Your Pokémon are trained like RED's: 252 EVs in each of its two highest base stats, and the last 6 in HP. If HP is one of the two, the 6 go to its third-highest stat instead.
Attack and Special Attack only count if one of its attacks uses them. In Generation III the move's type decides that. Moves without a fixed power, such as Hidden Power, Return, Frustration, Seismic Toss and Low Kick, don't count. When two base stats tie, the order is Attack, Special Attack, Speed, HP, Defense, Special Defense.
| Example | Base stats that count | EVs |
|---|---|---|
| Milotic with Water Gun and Twister | Sp. Def 125, Sp. Atk 100 | 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 6 HP |
| Houndoom with Hyper Beam as its only attack | Speed 95, Attack 90 (its Sp. Atk 110 has no special attack to use it) | 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 HP |
Hidden Power type
Hidden Power's type and power come from the user's IVs. The game's Summary screen lists it as a Normal move, but in battle it can be any type except Normal, with 30 to 70 power. Your Pokémon's IVs can be odd or even in every stat, so every type is possible.
- Today's team shows it. On the homepage, a Pokémon that knows Hidden Power lists it with its real type and power, for example "Hidden Power · Ice (58)".
- Its type decides physical or special. Hidden Power (Ice) uses Special Attack; Hidden Power (Fighting) uses Attack.
- How the type is worked out: the game takes the lowest bit of each IV (HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def) for the type and the second-lowest bit for the power, as in every Generation III game.
RED's team: natures, EVs and stats
RED's six have perfect IVs, fixed EV spreads and the same natures and abilities every day. These are their stats at level 100, before held items.
| Pokémon | Nature | HP | Atk | Def | SpA | SpD | Spe |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pikachu | Sassy | 211 | 177 | 96 | 169 | 127 | 251 |
| Espeon | Sassy | 272 | 166 | 156 | 359 | 248 | 287 |
| Snorlax | Serious | 524 | 319 | 167 | 166 | 256 | 96 |
| Venusaur | Lonely | 364 | 220 | 181 | 299 | 236 | 197 |
| Charizard | Impish | 297 | 205 | 211 | 285 | 206 | 299 |
| Blastoise | Quirky | 362 | 202 | 236 | 269 | 246 | 193 |
| Pokémon | Ability | EVs |
|---|---|---|
| Pikachu | Static | 124 Atk / 132 SpA / 252 Spe |
| Espeon | Synchronize | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe |
| Snorlax | Immunity | 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def |
| Venusaur | Overgrow | 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe |
| Charizard | Blaze | 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe |
| Blastoise | Torrent | 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Spe |
- Speed to beat. Charizard 299, Espeon 287, Pikachu 251, Venusaur 197, Blastoise 193, Snorlax 96. Speed ties are random, and Pikachu's Quick Attack moves first unless you also use a priority move.
- Pikachu's Light Ball doubles its Special Attack. Electric moves are special in Generation III, so both Thunderbolt and Volt Tackle hit much harder than 169 suggests.
- Snorlax has the most HP on the team and a high Special Defense. Physical attacks are the better way through.
